EXPERIENCE

EXPERIENCE

Clinician

I have spent over 30 years creating connections in the mental health field with children, families, and the communities where they live.  As a licensed clinical social worker, I have worked in both community and institutional settings to assess, treat, and coordinate services for an array of children that have been impacted by adverse and traumatic experiences, as well as initiated them.

Trainer

As a national trainer, I have focused on the screening, the assessment, and the treatment of children and youth who have initiated and been impacted by sexual harm.  I have been training on engagement, trauma, and problematic sexual behaviors for over 25 years.  Recently, I have focused on an application of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children with problematic sexual behaviors and the Care Process Model for Pediatric Traumatic Stress (CPM).

Consultant

As a clinical, managing, and executive director, I have overseen multiple clinical departments that assessed and treated trauma and problematic sexual behavior (PSB) utilizing multiple evidence-based/supported models, including a PSB model that I developed.  As someone who is passionate about connecting with people, I am excited to work with you to bring hope, excitement, and tailored approaches that promote innovative strategies for your practice, agency, and community.

TRAINING FOCUS

EDUCATION

Implementing Evidence-Based Therapies

Implementing evidence-based and supported treatments for trauma requires an engaging, patient-centered approach that balances well-established practices and approaches that are tailored to meet individual needs. It’s essential to establish a safe and trusting therapeutic environment and provide systemic support and structure when developing services. Regular assessment of progress, client feedback, and adaptability in the therapeutic process are key to obtaining and sustaining outcomes.

Consultation And Training

Teams often find themselves in a unique position to determine and guide services for youth impacted by abuse as well as those children and youth who initiate problematic sexual behavior.  Unfortunately, those professionals are often inadequately prepared to determine the heterogeneous, developmental, and contextual needs of this population. I work with MDTs to develop the systemic needs that support the best practices for children and youth, which may include developing empirically supported policies and procedures.

Resources

Over 35 years, I have accumulated an extensive library of resources from some of the most brilliant and insightful minds in the field.  I will share gratuitously the research, resources, and tools that can support the critical work we do with children, families, and communities.
